Christmas-- a time to be merry.

Christmas is the time, for many-- a time to be with family, friends, loved ones and everything else in between.

One might wonder what makes Christmas so special? Does the yuletide carols run about and swagger its' way into our very being? Are we not leadened with burden of pass memories? Aren't we tempted to question someone's sanity if we see them, like I did, with 8 carts filled with groceries.

Christmas is a beautiful concept, giving and/or receiving gifts anonymously or by someone you know. Receiving that kiss, that hug, under the mistletoe and shiver within, and tell that word that you love her/him.

Being with your loved ones, such as your family, buds. Celebrating, your time with them. Laughing, giggling, making jokes, making messes. Making new memories, watching home-movies, shopping for clothes, gifts, food, so on and of course the traffic.

It's all part of Christmas. This is what makes Christmas special. A tender, special time.

May we all have a wonderful Christmas!

My Gift To You:

A glimpse of life!

What would life be without it's hassle, without it's desire to achieve or it's need to improve? Boring! Imagine, life with vivid memories of you lounging about for days on end without physical excursion

As a student (various forms), the frustrations that I feel are immense yet yes, I may have days where I feel extremely depressed but as a student that wants to actually get somewhere, these little annoyance that I go through every single day, will hopefully pay-off one day.

All I'm trying to say is, though, we all want to get somewhere, whether in work, school, love... at some point in them, we will all fall, we all will trip, tumble and possibly criticized heavily by everyone but we can't let them defeat us.

As long as we have breathe in our bodies, strength in our backs-- we must strive to achieve our ultimate goal!

Sincerely,
-John Arcenas

Death is a Glory!

Death is a glory held by my hand,
Wilt I embrace it soon?
Will I be held accountable...

How I long for you! Tear me to shreds...
Sic me! Tear me! Destroy me!

I am bold by you, you are my darkness.
You are the glimpse of my heart, the darkness of my soul.
Embrace me soon, embrace me soon.. as I long for your hand.

Glory be unto me, as soon, I shall bask in your glory.

Let the darkness consume me!

How we should really "sit straight". 90 degrees position is bad for you!

We slouch, we slump, we cross our legs, we do "laying dog" (whatever that is). People sit, animals sit, heck I think even insects sit in some form, that's just a fact of life.

Today, we'll tackle briefly the importance of sitting "straight". Sitting straight as defined by sheer common knowledge is sitting in a straight or | , 90 degrees manner.

As a person who glares into a computer all day, I have to "sit". My most common sitting position is most probably slouching. Arguments have happened concerning my sitting position. I often sat in a scythe-like position. People claim that I'm not sitting right and that I'll have back issues at some point. Their claims were right.

I have back issues now, lowering back issues, probably either L4 or L5. For people who workout, that means that I have core issues or my core is weak, so I need to do deadlifts more.

Yep, I drew this. I don't know how to draw {^o^}.

The average person, that's us, understand that we must straight to not only have good posture but also to avoid back issues but little did we know that this whole sitting straight thing (90 degrees) is actually bad for us or so professionals argue.

The professionals, or as I like to playfully call em' "back people" {-_^}. Before we briefly dive into their opinions, let me just state this. I am person who has back issues, what I have is probably "lumbar pain" that is due to slumping or slouching a lot, so for the LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THIS WORLD, don't slouch anymore, okay? I myself have been trying to sit straight, not easy though "bad habits die hard".

            ,.'-. \
           ( ( ,'"""""-.

          ( , ,_\
          | ,---.,'o `.
          | / o \ )
           \ ,. ( .____,
            \| \ \____,' \
          '`'\ \ _,____,'
          \ ,-- ,-' \
            ( C ,' \
             `--' .' |
               | | .O |
             __| \ ,-'_

               \ -hrr- \ `. | |

Okay, so some professionals argue that the "proper sitting posture" isn't 90 degrees or straight, because firstly our spines were made to be straight and second "90 degrees, caused disks to move the most." It's a little bit curved. Some argue that we should sit straight because that's proper.

Anyway, since, I said briefly let's just get this "out in the open". Sitting straight for a very long time will put heavy stress on your spine. Why, your weight then posture = gravity = stress / unwanted pressure on your spine = pain, period.

The proper position of "sitting" is neither "straight or 90 degrees". It's a straight-ish leaned back/forward position. Don't sit for too long, walk every now and then but hey, why not give it a try to find out which is more suitable for you.

Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao triumphs over Brandon "BamBam" Rios, is he truly back?

Photoshop Video-Tutorials | IRL Channel Facebook | DeviantArt
Amidst the drama, the unspoken legal issue of what happened days before the match, eight-division world champion Emmanuel "Manny" Dapidran Pacquiao, the fighting pride of the Philippines, had a lot of pressure on his shoulders, coming off from a knockout by Juan Manuel Márquez who KO'ed the Philippines fighting pride on December 8, 2012.

A ton of conversation surfaced about how the match ended, Manny's chin, his age, his speed, his strength. "Should he retire"? "Maybe he's getting too old?" "We all go old". . . and many, many more.

Is he? One wonders. Now, I am not an avid watcher of boxing, I don't understand how scoring is dictated but I know, like any common person knows, whether or not a fighter won, should've won, cheated, needs improvement, blatant, slow or lost.

As I watched Pacquiao bombard Rios round-by-round, I felt as if he learned from his previous fight.  He has learned to be an intelligent, tactful and patient fighter. Taking what faults he might have had in the past, used them and improved them, that is the mark of any proper fighter. Learning to turn your weakness into strengths.

As anyone who saw the match between Brandon Rios and Manny Pacquiao, the amount of slight or blatant punches by Rios were uncalled for and any proper boxer who takes pride in his skills shouldn't do it.

Back to the round-by-round observations, as I watched Rios being bombarded by PacMan, I noticed that PacMan is still not back, in my opinion. His strength, the strength in his punches just wasn't there. Mind you, PacMan is still strong but not as strong as before. Rios is tough, period. Gotta give him his dues. He stuck throughout the entire match with minor bruises on his face. Plus his punches, as one can clearly see by the reactions of PacMan, aren't weak either. Respect.

If it wasn't for Manny's amazing footwork, there's a high percentage of chance that, it would have been another knock-out period.  Rios is a heavy puncher but so is, or was PacMan.

In my humble opinion, if Manny's strength was back, his full strength, there would be more bruises on Rios' face and a fair percentage of a knock-out or even a knock-down.

Clearly, the match was in PacMan's side.  Every round, I saw him swing at Rios without a care in the world (well, almost. PacMan was careful which is good) but every time Rios swung back, I sense the heaviness of Rios' punch.  Every time, Rios would temporally corner PacMan, I felt that if he, PacMan didn't get escape, PacMan would have been knocked-out, period.

It is truly a blessing to PacMan - his footwork, his speed and his tactfulness. PacMan won the match over Rios', with a staggering 12-round wins, at least to this blogger's opinion.

With all this in mind, one might wonder is he? Is he truly back? Is the fighting pride of the Philippines truly back? Will his presence be known again in the world? Will he bring honor and respect to his country? Or will he show "his old", "his impatience".  What do you think?

Me, I think he's back, but not fully. He lacks strength.  Footwork and speed are there but his strength, that "pound-for-pound" that "you keep on receiving my punches. You'll go down, eventually" quality, is not.

Ladies and gents, Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao is back!

May his previous loss be a valuable lesson to him. Let him bring honor, respect and love for his country. Let him be a wonderful congressman to the people of Sarangani. . . I hope to see his strength back

The Faith of a Nation.

Photoshop Video-Tutorials | IRL Channel Facebook | DeviantArt
Lurking in the Pacific Ocean, deep within the barren wasteland under the seabed, lives yet another giant waiting to be released and no, this is not a trailer piece for a movie. This is simply about Haiyan the super-typhoon that struck the Philippines on November 8, leveled towns and cities in about 3 provinces.

It is known locally as Yolanda in the Philippines, how it became "Yolanda" is beyond me. Regardless, that Yolanda is one nasty bounder. As soon as enough inertia was gathered, she rolled, rolled and rolled. As she tilted, tumbled and squashed tress, animals, people, houses and many more. She couldn't care less, she is, in one word; brutal.

With the country, not yet being able to recover from a recent earthquake that shook and laid waste a number of significant cities, she rode the country with her blistering winds of 240-315 km/h, leaving death and destruction in her path.

The Philippines, is known to be a typhoon country. What that means is basically, on a yearly basis they are kinda the receiver of the inevitable onslaught of devastation and destruction brought on by typhoons such as Yolanda.

The Philippines is a wonderful country, blessed with natural fruits, lands and vegetables ideal for an exporter-type country, with an even more interesting government.  One skill that almost all Pilipinos have is 'adaptability', that regardless of present circumstances, they will find a way out of it or to move on, to trudge through whatever trial they might be facing.

With all this in mind, we come to our 'food for thoughts' for the day.

Due to recent events in the country, the global community has decided that when they offer financial assistance, they will not give in money, but in commodities and/or physical services such as medical teams.

I can not blame them for this.  This is due to the recent development in government.  Link.  I actually agree with what they've done, regardless of the "development".  This, in my humble opinion, is a better and effective way of actually helping the people in dire need.  With more direct, and physical service, the donors can actually see, first-hand, what the people need and how those needs are to be met.

An image will be inserted here,
as soon as I have enough time to make it

We come to our final food for thought. We now venture into the world of dire need, immense emotional turmoil, numerous deaths and massive destruction.

"Does being sardined in unexpected situation, justify illegal actions?"
First, let me just say, that in other countries, besides the Philippines, when such an event as Haiyan happens, law 'n' order, does NOT exist, period.

So, does being sardined in a situation of death, hunger and destruction justify one to make illegal actions.  My answer is, yes.  As long as the dire need for basic survival is immense, it is justified.

When your home, your house, your wife, your children, your husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, dog, cat, parrot, whatever, something that you hold dear, love and treasure with all your heart was suddenly taken away.  And all you are, is a broken piece of yourself.  Struggling, fighting for a way for survival.  Looking for motivation, for an urge to live. Then my answer is yes.

Given these extreme circumstances, this urge is deemed justifiable, meaning, these actions were done out of necessity, not opportunism.

An image will be inserted here,
as soon as I have enough time to make it

When a government fails to respond within a timely manner, regardless of education, its citizens will almost always delve into their baser primitive instincts, the need to survive.

All actions justified by sheer circumstances must be given lee-way by the law, grant its citizens a little bit of perspective.

Therefore, it is the opinion of this Blogger that I join the millions of people not only in the Philippines but also the global community whose eyes are fixed on the Philippines' particular situation in the aftermath of Yolanda.

I join them in saying, "may the donations in kind, be received by those in need." In a state of emergency such as this, if "proper process" is required by the state in coordinating relief efforts from all sides, then it is my firm recommendation that these "proper processes" be done so, ASAP. And it needn't take days, just to approve a team of foreign volunteers for relief operations.

Sincerely,
John Arcenas

The fortitude of the Pilipino people, evokes respect.

Photoshop Video-Tutorials | IRL Channel Facebook | DeviantArt
The Philippines is known for a lot of things. Warm weather, blistering typhoons and near paradisiacal beaches, caves and locations that any vacation lover or backpacker would love. From the hospitable nature of its people, from rare animals, plants and to locations where traditions aren't lost but are still very much alive.

The Pilipinos are known for a lot of things. The most common, the Philippines is known for, is being the world's largest exporter of workers. 10% of their country's population is outside the country, why? Simple, not enough job opportunities or inadequate finances.

They work abroad, not because they don't like their country.  In fact most of the Pilipinos that I've talk to, say in one accord "bansa ko, bayan ko" which means 'my country, my home'.  The love for their country is strong and most of them, feel this disappointment and/or shame that they "have to work abroad".

Unfortunately, most of them, due to circumstances, aren't given the proper opportunity for quality education and jobs can not simply support their families. Hence, they "have to work abroad".

I agree that it is a shame, a disappointment that one can not work in his/her own country due to multiple valid reasons. But it amazes one that, even despite the distance, the hardships, the sufferings and occasional, being taken advantage of, that these Pilipinos are strong. Their fortitude is deemed with respect.

Whilst I do not want to go into details, but let me just say this, there are multiple incidents of very lowly educated or even properly educated OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) who are harassed, abused, humiliated, tormented, even killed or raped.

The amazing thing about Pilipinos is, even when such thing happens. The anger, the absolute anger, hatred that one would naturally feel isn't as strong as with other ethnic groups.  While, yes, the hatred is there but the feeling that most of them feel is sadness. Just sadness.

The Pilipinos, regardless of whatever circumstances, have rarely been a nation that whenever someone pushes them to a corner, they'll shed blood, just to escape being cornered.  Most of them, not all, mind you, but most of them won't.

Hmm?  How can I elaborate this more clearly?  The Philippine public about a month ago, received a bombshell of an announcement of an example of pure greed, that is, the PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund) scam or pork barrel scam, how it became a "pork barrel scam" is beyond me.

Anyway, the whole idea of the PDAF scam is basically someone "stole" about 10 billion Philippine pesos or about $24.6 million. Allegedly Janet Lim Napoles is that "someone", though some would argue otherwise (Senator Miriam Defensor).

Whatever the case may be, our focus here is not about "pork barrel scam". Our focus here is, the impressive patience of the Pilipino people.

Philippine Flag Done By SourcesForInspiration
A simple render by me

Our prime example of this is, the "Million People March".  Mind you, it wasn't exactly "a million people" but about 350,000 people, which isn't bad considering that it wasn't planned.  It was just a thing, someone posted on Facebook.  Shares happened, sharing continued to happen, till eventually someone made an event, a petition even, and the "Million People March" happened.

An incredible feat, imagine about 350,000 gathered in unison. Not planned, just via a post on Facebook. It happened, incredible.

As we look at this "Million People March" more closely, we see the patience and the kind nature of the people. This rally was unlike the protest rally, even felt like a party to many, but their message is clear and firm "Scrap pork barrel (all forms)".  "Makibaka, Wag Mag Baboy" is their message, loud, clear and firm. "Makibaka, Wag Mag Baboy", is a bit difficult to translate literally but basically it means, don't be a pig but be a cow?  Hahaha, I don't know, but yeah it's something like Struggle (addressing the people). Don't vulgarize (addressing the guilty politicians).

Video of "Makibaka, wag mag baboy" :

People both foreign and local, response to all this :

Hey, remember that I said it felt more like a party than a rally? Here's proof :

Kawatan Million People March by Jograd de la Torre

The nature of the general public of the Philippines is just amazing. I don't think I've ever seen a rally that felt more like a fund raiser. And even when one of them got a little be too hot and maybe a little bit too activist-like the people tamed that person. Amazing, just amazing. A non-violent protest. {o_O}

Anyway, as I feel this is getting a bit too long and preachy.  I'll just sum it up; even with the pork barrel scam and a recent, tragic event that is Haiyan or Yolanda (super typhoon), as it is locally known.  Even when their homes, their livelihoods are destroyed. Absolutely shattered, stepped them and pissed on.... they, with their firm faith in God, their nature to help each other rise again, they do rise.  They stand, with endurance, to the onslaught of destruction, disappointments and disasters.

Let us admire and respect the fortitude of the Philippines people.  May they be blessed, and be granted one day with a benevolent leader who will not only restore the dignity, the position of the Philippines in the global market but pass on this example of fortitude, of endurance, of love for their country.

Sincerely,
John Arcenas

Corruption in Goverment. The disappointment that we feel in our public servants.

Corrupted, by sheer common sense, is defined as being twisted, bent, lacking of moral fiber even moral principles. One might hope, that when a person runs for office, he/she aims to help, to develop his/her local district or the scope of his jurisdiction.

Unfortunately, this is not always true... or it was true when they were running for office for the first time. The way it happens is, it's like what Robin Williams said that, "politicians are a lot like diapers. They need to be changed for the same reason."

Put simply, there's only so much unless maybe that person has an extreme grip on his principles, his morals, his conviction as not only a servant of the people but a "respecter of God". There's only so much that he/she can take, crap is inevitable. It increments, why?  Because it's natural.

More often, it's the system that often corrupts the servant. A kind of Biblical tale of, Bathsheba and David. David being them, and Bathsheba being the system.

The system can be interpreted as simple as little leaks, that when, not fixed, can first annoy you, intimidate you till eventually you'll be surrounded by water. Then, that's when you'll have to make a choice, to put out or stay afloat in the hope of maybe, still, being of some help.

It is a shame, it is an absolute disappointment that politicians, most of them, do not listen, do not humble themselves to their constituents. Whatever happened to the saying, "as meek as a child"? What's with all this pride, this ego, these superficial feelings of power?

Here's a little simple statement, we voted for you, we supported you. Why aren't you listening to us now? Are we mere pawns here, to be used by you, to gain power and power, of which you will eventually lose because, first, there's a limit to your term in office and second, we all die, dummy.

Let it be, that this short and simple article encourage us, the public to consider if politicians, in whatever level, if they truly are of some use.

As for the politicians, we don't ask much. We just want, job security or opportunities. Respectable homes. Quality food. Quality environment. Places where our families, our friends, our buds can go and have fun without having fear or discomfort because of this and that. Is that really so hard?

Is it really that difficult to understand that oil and water doesn't mix?

Sincerely,

Why did YouTube enable 'Clickable Links' (again) and 'ASCII drawings'?! Google+'s doing...

Photoshop Video-Tutorials | IRL Channel Facebook | DeviantArt

My own video-response to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0TP0tDGieI

YouTube's co-founder Jawed Karim, made his very first public video for Youtube over 8 years ago (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNQXAC9IVRw). He has or whomever controls that account, has come out from silence after more than 8years. And he said, no, just read it.

Just in case you can't see that, it says "why do I need a Google+ account to comment on a video?".

The answer people is integration,they are trying or making Youtube users part of their social network. Their Google+. Why, simple... business. Marketing. They want to be among the top 3, maybe even beat Twitter. No one's gonna beat Facebook. {^_^}

Social Networking Service (wikipedia)
Google+'s Claims :

From a person who likes to read, write articles and make suggestions to his friends and/or people who read his blogs or whatever, this whole connecting people is fine.

But as a Youtuber, both as a content maker and a viewer. I hate it! Why, simple, whoever thought at Google, that allowing ASCII back to Youtube comments was a beautiful suggestion should go to a mental ward. WHY?! ... again, very simple. Look at these images!

Why did Google+ modify Youtube's comments section?  It's to be banned or prevent bullying? Explain this to me.  Do you even have the slightest notion that kids look at YouTube videos?

YOUTUBE IS NOT A PORN SITE! WHAT MAKES YOUTUBE UNIQUE?  FREEDOM OF SPEECH. But, these kinds of things, aren't even remotely 'freedom of speech'. It's just blatant, stupidity. It's disgusting!

Let me tell you something, Google+ won't happen. You wanna know why? It's simple, your UI (User Interface) is confusing. Yes, the hashtags is/was a good idea but it doesn't work, not a lot or at least from my side, not a lot of people use Google+. Gmail yes, but Google+ no-no.

OH! And another thing,  This is far from being a fantastic move that you would allow links to be clickable! What is wrong with you? Wanna see an example of this sheer stupidity, why this is just so stupid!

DO YOU SEE THAT?!  Ever heard of malware?! Viruses?! STOP, JUST STOP! DISABLE THE STUPID CLICKABLE LINKS!

I want my Youtube back.  I want to view videos comfortably, feel secure.  I don't want to see ASCII pictures/drawings of phalluses.  I don't want to see clickable links!

Why are the top comments so confusing?  You said, little communities... all I see is total confusion.  I can't even tell, which is which!

DISABLE THE ASCII and the CLICKABLE LINKS! I can adjust with the Youtube little conversations whatever, but ASCII and CLICKABLE LINKS!! NO.. NOO.. NOO!

I just want it go back to its normal, and maybe, please fix the videos thing. I can't even see the videos of the Youtubers that I'm subscribed to. Fix the sub box. If you're going to make modifications, make em' there!

Thank you.

I do not own any of these images. I merely collaged them, for the sole purpose of showing support/love for the current state of the Philippines. Good, high chances, that this post will be deleted. As soon as the dire need for emotional support of the Philippines has decreased, yeah.

State Witness, what does it mean?

Photoshop Video-Tutorials | IRL Channel Facebook | DeviantArt
A state witness is defined by my limited legal knowledge as, being a person who has been criminally charged with a valid crime, chooses to help the state in legally identifying who the true mastermind is. By doing this, this person (charged with a crime) may be given pardon, meaning his/her alleged crime will be legally forgiven.

A witness is defined as "one who can give a firsthand account of something seen, heard, or experienced." Again, by my limited legal knowledge... the simple, main difference between a state witness and a witness is. Witness, private sector, whilst a state witness is, in the public sector, meaning government.

Looking at this word, witness, from afar, it makes it sound as such an admirable occupation. Yet, interestingly enough, witnesses are still people. They're still "human", as they say. I think it was Shakespeare who said, "to err is human, to forgive, divine". Now, that's deep {O_o}, but I believe it means faults, weaknesses, no fear (i.e. respect-or) of God, ego, greed, lust, hungry for power and/or status.

Even under oath, even if they swear on the Bible, they can still lie. They can still make a legal maneuver by invoking "I invoke my right against self-incrimination".

With this in mind, we jump into the scene of what has happened recently in the Philippines. The Philippines is known for its warm people, diverse ethnic backgrounds, rare and only seen there species, beautiful beaches, caves, majority of the people are bi-lingual even tri-lingual, some more and an interesting government.

As of November 07, 2013 (Thursday). At approximately 09:00, at the Senate Building of the Philippines (Senado ng Pilipinas). The "queen of pork barrel" Janet Lim Napoles, alleged to have hoarded more than $23,104,363, of the country's taxes (i.e. people's taxes), has finally received a "fair chance" to "show her innocence" or given a platform to state what her role is in the pork barrel scam.

The pork barrel scam or PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund), can be summarized as, people's taxes that are supposed to go into infrastructure, education, housing projects, etc... taken advantage of by the sole people elected to make these ventures happen; mayors, governors, congress people, senators and other public servants, even the President himself (President Benigno "Noynoy / Pnoy" Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III), supposedly.

The people of the Philippines, have come into an understanding that the mastermind of this whole scandal is Janet Lim Napoles. But at today's Senate Blue Ribbon Committee meeting, Miriam Defensor Santiago, current senator soon-to-be elect judge of the International Criminal Court of Justice or ICC,
made bold (she's known for that) statements that "Mrs. Napoles isn't the mastermind". Senator Defensor, has difficulties believing someone like Janet Lim Napoles (who came from a very provincial family. Who only had enough, enough, often less, but rarely more, to support themselves) can be such a "genius", as to come up with such a ploy to take advantage of not only the private sector (i.e. the people) but the public senator (everything government-related) as well.

Senator Miriam Defensor, may seem like a lot of things to a lot of people because of her unusually brute-ish behavior yet this woman brings with her a very creditable, admirable, impressive background, a background that demands respect.  She's no pushover; she knows what she's talking about, whether it be in the legal aspect or being street smart.  She made it clear, that Janet Lim Napoles, should state something in public whilst she still has the chance to.

By the end of the session, around 15:34, nothing really happened. Janet Lim Napoles, showing up was supposed to be a big deal.  It was a chance for her to show her side of the story, a fair platform bounded by the laws of the Philippines yet she did nothing but evade and/or "I invoke the right against self-incrimination" (which is "her right", evidently) questions that I believe weren't "self-incriminating" but more like self-liberating. But hey, as the good book (i.e. Bible) says, we are given freedom to choose right from wrong. Free will is the greatest gift God gave to us.

All this in mind, it drives one to think. Does the legal system truly work? Will there ever be a perfect system? A system of systems? A system by sheer common sense, isn't perfect. It will always have, eventually defects, loopholes.

Do we, the people, truly having confidence and feel secure with our local & national government agencies? What about certain government organizations such as the NSA (National Security Agency), CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) that "have a mind/agenda of their own"? Isn't that kinda scary to give such power, such authority to people you've never even seen?

A system of government (depends on what kind of government), can have multiple loopholes, hidden codes, secretive transaction that aren't part of their job description. When an accused, that one can so blatantly tell is lying, shouldn't that person be charged with an additional crime such as perjury?

Janet Lim Napoles, may evade as much as she wants but her demeanor tells the public or whoever is concerned, that the answers to the questions asked are so blatantly obvious.

It's just plainly disappointing. "Can't we all just get along"? Can't we all, just live a normal life without having fear because of this and that, because of that and this, of that because this but was truly this or disappointment.

Just a little food for thought!
Sincerely,
John Arcenas
